Christian Initiation
Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Objectives
By the end of this workshop, you’ll:- Be able to describe the very nature of Christian Initiation — a gradual process suited to the needs of individuals who seek to know Christ and to maturein their faith.
- Gain a better appreciation of the evolution of the initiation rites throughout Church history; to recognize the sources of our current rites; and value the call of the Second Vatican Council to restore the catechumenate process.
- Be able to help others see the movement of God in their lives; recognize what their needs are; and ascertain their progress in their journey of faith.
