Catholic Engaged Encounter

Congratulations on your decision to marry in the Catholic Church. We are pleased to take part of your sacramental marriage preparation. God bless you in these grace filled moments and know of our prayers as you embark together on this holy vocation.

Before registering to Catholic Engaged Encounter you should have:

•Gone to a parish and met with your Priest or marriage preparation minister to begin your marriage preparation process

•Obtained from your Priest or marriage preparation minister the recommendation to a specific retreat.

You will be asked to give the name and contact information for this Priest or marriage preparation minister, and will not be able to complete registration without it.  Your Priest or marriage preparation minister may be asked to confirm his approval.

The Catholic Engaged Encounter retreat is best suited for engaged couples preparing for a Sacramental Marriage and

• Have never been previously married
• Are NOT living together
• Do not have children
• Are not expecting a child

Retreat schedule: The overnight retreat will start at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and will end on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Cost: $292 per couple - which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, overnight stay and retreat materials

The Catholic Engaged Encounter Weekend offers engaged couples a two-day “retreat” experience. This retreat allows couples to enhance their relationship and provides a religious atmosphere allowing the couples to concentrate on their relationship with one another and with God. A team of married couples & a priest guides the participants toward a better understanding of themselves as unique individuals seeking a lifelong companionship through the sacrament of marriage in the Catholic Church.

It is recommended to register after the initial meeting with the priest. The ideal time to attend an Engaged Encounter is from 6-12 months before the wedding, but no later than 2-3 months before the wedding date. SPACE IS LIMITED to only 28 couples per weekend and are scheduled every other month. 

The completed registration form can be emailed to [email protected] with a non-refundable fee of $292 payable by credit or debit card over the phone or in person at the Family Life Office.  A PayPal fee will be added to all credit or debit transactions.  Alternatively, a money order can be mailed to the address given below.  Please do not mail cash or checks.  A confirmation letter will be emailed to the couple once the application and fee are received.

Rescheduling will only be allowed in case of an emergency approved by the Director or Associate and will include a $80.00 rescheduling fee to offset cost of meals.
