    • The Diocese of Brownsville Immigration Services provides assistance to foreign nationals seeking permanent resident status in the U.S. Completing application forms, facilitating filing procedures both in the U.S. and abroad, counseling on eligibility requirements and dealing with grounds of inadmissibility that may apply to the client.
       

      Los Servicios de Inmigración de la Diócesis de Brownsville brindan asistencia a los extranjeros que buscan el estatus de residente permanente en los EE.UU. Esta asistencia incluye completar formularios de solicitud, facilitar los procedimientos de presentación tanto en los EE.UU. como en el extranjero, asesorar sobre los requisitos de elegibilidad y tratar los motivos de inadmisibilidad que pueden aplicarse al cliente.

    • Que debo hacer si me paran las autoridades y no tengo documentos?
      • Usted debe permanecer silencio para evitar deportación inmediata.  Presente la tarjeta “Conozca sus derechos” a las autoridades para que tengan que presentarlo frente un juez de inmigración donde usted puede alegar su caso para quedarse aquí .

    • Es posible evitar la deportación aunque no tenga documentos?
      • Si es posible, en casos por ejemplo donde usted ya tiene raíces aquí, se esta manteniendo, tiene hijos ciudadanos, paga renta, y no tiene antecedentes criminales, etc. Los jueces tienen gran poder y compasión en muchos casos.

    • Que debo hacer con mis hijos en la escuela; si las autoridades me detienen o arrestan?
      • Usted debe de entregar una carta de custodia temporal (Temporary Custodial Letter) a la escuela donde tiene a sus hijos. Esto asegurara que la escuela de permiso de que alguien aprobada por usted pueda recoger a sus hijos y no el Departamento Estatal de Proteccion de Ninos. Esta persona autorizada por usted puede cuidar de sus niños hasta que usted pueda hacer arreglos para reunirlos a la familia.
